Our Founder

Kate’s journey to find answers for her own stress, constant busyness, and depression led her to seek out the tools that have been built into Ardea Insights.  She is passionate about sharing evidence-based interventions to help others to live their best lives, filled with joy, energy, and excellence.

Kate’s eclectic background began with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology followed by a master’s degree in International Development.  She spent three years coordinating graduate-level courses for NGO leaders in the US and in Uganda and then returned to work as a research advisor and Social Return on Investment Analyst, helping charities, NGOs, and social enterprises to better understand, quantify, and improve their impact. Ultimately, she found her way back to psychology, obtaining a second master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with specific coursework in the biological basis of behavior.  With a primary interest in understanding what it takes for humans to thrive, she has completed coursework in Positive Psychology through Harvard University and is a certified Emotional Intelligence practitioner.

Prior to launching Ardea Insights, Kate spent five years as an associate and then partner at a prominent organizational behavior firm in Pennsylvania, coaching, speaking, and teaching in the areas of workplace well-being and emotional intelligence. Kate has taught both organizational behavior and psychology at the collegiate level and currently serves as an adjunct professor for Eastern Mennonite University.

She lives with her husband Jonathan and daughter Emerie in the Finger Lakes region of New York where she strives every day to live authentically the material that she teaches and to make an impact through her work.

Ardea

The word “ardea” is Latin for heron. Not only do we love the quiet strength of the heron, but the word carries symbolism of stability, wisdom, and the ability to evolve and progress. In the North American Native tradition it is said that the long thin legs of the heron reflect that we do not need massive pillars to remain stable, but that we have the strength within to stand on our own.
